school

Have you seen what's been going on at the old school grounds? This is the beginning of the memorial tribute to Kay Geiman. Thanks to Mike and Dave and to all the contributers, so that one who is so greatly missed will always be remembered.

We would like to acknowledge the wonderful help and support we have been given while trying to get this web site up and running. Good, reasonable and competent computer assistance is hard to come by these days, but we have found that very person in Rick Burcky, and would like to recommend his services to any of you that have a computer issue or problem. His Florence Web link is on our "useful links" page. Be sure to mention you saw his ad here!

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Another holiday come and gone. How time flies. Thank you to everyone helped with the celebration and came and attended. We had a very good time. Thanks for the help in street clean up.

Some folks were asking if I would accept donations for the fireworks. I usually do not ask but if anyone wishes to donate for next year I would be happy to accept.

NEW RESIDENTS

Spencer and Carly Guinn have moved from Kentucky into a home west of Lehigh. These newlyweds were married May 10th! Spencer and Carly are both graduates of the University of Kentucky and Spencer is a Field Test Engineer for Agco. Carly plans to attend K-State and become a veterinarian. Wouldn't it be great if she opened a practice in Lehigh!?! They already have a garden and raise sweet corn. Other members of the Guinn family are Emmy and Gehl, both Rottweilers. They are quickly getting acquainted by joining the people of the community in local events.

Galen & Ruth Chizek bought Hilma Bartel's residence. Galen works for American Energies Gas Service and Ruth has accepted a job with Hillsboro Industries. Galen hails from the Lincolnville area and Ruth is a native of Council Grove. Galen has a teenage daughter, Megan. Ruth has a teenage son, Matthew still at home and grown children out on their own. Please get to know the family and make them welcome. They will be a fine addition to our community

SHAUN & SARAH HIEBERT purchased the "Duerksen house" at 209 E Main. Shaun works in McPherson, and Sarah in Canton. With two young children, Kenzee and Layne, they have a very active family life. Shaun has recently joined the Lehigh V.F.D, while remaining an active member of the Canton Department as well

RICK AND GENA MOUNTS purchased the "Jantz" home at 211 N. Prospect. Rick works in Hesston and Gena in Marion. Together they have four children; 2 boys and 2 girls. The boys, Tristen and Jace attend school in Hillsboro. Most of their "spare time" is devoted to repairing and remodeling the house and their love of horses. Gena is an accomplished barrel racer. Rick has joined the Lehigh V.F.D.

KEVIN & AMANDA MARLER have moved into the house at 301 E. Main. They moved here from Hillsboro and have two little girls; Katlynn, and Trinity (both are beautiful) and I'm sure that Grandpa, Doug Marler (the Lehigh Co-op Manager) is very proud of them. Kevin has also joined the Lehigh V.F.D.

JAYNE GOTTSCHALK is the new resident at 311 Maria. She currently works in Wichita for a Veterinarian. She has 3 grown children. Jayne moved here to be closer to her daughter in Galva, who will soon be having Jayne's first Grandchild. Originally hailing from Geneseo, she is real pleased to be back in "small town Kansas", and is currently considering a career move in this area to avoid the daily commute.

DEBBY GUSTAFSON is the new resident at 207 Maria. She comes to Lehigh from the rural Hillsboro community.

PAULA COX is busy renovating and repairing the former house of Dave and Beth Crouse at 204 E.Case. It's a big undertaking, but she plans to be completed before the holidays. Paula is from Ramona.

CINDY KIMBROUGH and daughter Miranda our the newest residents of 211 Schmidt Lane. Cindy has moved to Lehigh from Washington. She has family in Newton.

ROGER & GRACE ASHLEY and daughter, Letecia have moved into 406 Maria.  Roger works for Agco and Grace is a nurse in Newton.

CISSY LEE & MIKE KLAASEN have recently moved into Jon n Jill's house at 311 Marion...help to make this young couple feel welcome!

Ok folks, we gave you the names and a few "ice-breakers", now please get out there and welcome these fine people to our great community! I understand that a few of our people are trying to put together an impromptu gathering to get accquainted (If nature cooperates).
